Enjoy

Find tranquility in the quiet of their tropical courtyard and pool area. They invite you to enjoy the South African sun from a variety of sundecks as you sip on a cool drink and relax on your lounger. The outside fireplace sets the scene for romantic drinks after dinner or extra shade for a break from the pool. Enjoy the temperate Garden Route winter with great company and sundowners from their stylish lounge or front deck, both offering unobstructed views of the lagoon and Knysna Heads. Delicious English- and Continental breakfasts are served in their elegant dining room, which also shares these views.

Somervreug is the Afrikaans word for Summer Joy. The house was built in 1980/1981 and named Somervreug by the original family. The property has remained in the family and has now been redeveloped into this modern, stylish, yet comfortable guest house. You’ll find beautiful original pieces from the family home cleverly integrated with the contemporary, sophisticated interior. This gives a subtle nod to the history and heritage that now secures the future of Somervreug.
